Apr. 1979 Samyang General Research Institute established.
Oct. 1981 Granted recognition by Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST)
Jan. 1986 Awarded government's Gold Tower Industrial Order of Merit
Oct. 1986 Selected as research institute able to host military conscripts.
May 1991 Construction begins on new building in the Daedeok Science Town.
Sep. 1992 Name changed to Samyang Central R&D, Pharmaceutical Research Center established.
Aug. 1993 Relocated to Daedeok Science Town
Oct. 1994 Medical suture won Patent Technology Award.
Feb. 1995 Hosted international academic symposium.
May 1997 Earned the Jang Yeongsil Award for the biodegradeable surgical suture TRISORB.
Oct. 1997 Earned the Jang Eun Award for PET-based high elasticity yarn
May 2000 First Annual GEOGRID Technology Seminar held. Pharmaceutical Research Center integrated into the Samyang Central Research Center, which is organized as an independent business unit.
Oct. 2000 Name changed to Samyang Central R&D Center.
Jun. 2001 Plastic optical fiber joint venture R&D company, Digital Optronics Corp. established in Florida, USA.
Mar. 2002 Insoluble Drug Delivery System won Ji Seogyeong Award from KIPO
Apr. 2002 Samyang Research Corporation established in Utah, USA.
Jun. 2002 Samyang's Geogrid selected as one of the country's Top 100 Superior Products by KIPO and Han'guk Ilbo.
May. 2003 Reorganization to establish R&D Planning and IP team, and Biology & Clinical
Pharmacology Lab.
Jun. 2004 GEOGRID certified for ‘Reliability Mark’ by MOICE (Korea, government)
Nov. 2004 Seminar held celebrating Samyang’s 80th anniversary
Jan. 2006 Samyang Central R&D Center divided into Pharmaceutical R&D, Advanced Polymeric Materials R&D, and Industrial Materials R&D. TRIGRID® EX certified for GCI-PCP assurance (Industrial Materials R&D)
Nov. 2006 Hosted Society of Polymer Engineering, Korea (Advanced Polymeric Materials R&D),
Certified by MOHC (Korea, government) as Medicluster Research Group with Asan Medical Center (Pharmaceutical R&D)
Jan. 2007 TRIGRID® EX Plant certified as ISO9001 complaint (Industrial Materials R&D)
Feb. 2007 GENEXOL-PM™ (next generation anti-cancer agent using Paclitaxel, injection) marketed (Pharma R&D, Pharma BU)
Feb. 2007 PC, PC/ABS, TPEE assured as General Motors (US) global automobile components (Advanced Polymeric Materials R&D)
Mar. 2007 CVJB material for automobile subunits developed
