As a company committed to research in DDS (Drug Delivery Systems), Samyang has
developed a number of innovative products. Success has been realized in the development of
an analgesic transdermal patch for cancer patients, an anti-emetic transdermal patch, patch
hes for smoking cessation, an anti-inflammatory transdermal patch, and an oral colitis
treatment. Presently the Pharmaceutical R & D Center is developing FDT(Fast Dissolving Tablets)
that melt in the mouth without water, making it easy for children and the elderly to swallow
medications. In addition, the Genexol-PM ¢ç Injection, which greatly reduces the side effects
of earlier anti-cancer medications, is being clinically tested in the United States. To facilitate
development of safer and more effective pharmaceuticals, Samyang has established a clinical pharmacology laboratory as well as an animal testing lab.
As a company that has made substantial investments in the R&D sector, Samyang has also
enjoyed great achievements in the medical device area. Among the highly regarded devices
designed by Samyang are absorbable surgical sutures such as Trisorb¢ç Surgisorb¢çand
Monosorb¢çwhich do not require removal after surgery, as well as BioMesh¢ç a GTR
(Guided Tissue Regeneration) barrier. Not complacent with its past achievements, Samyang
engages in continuous research to develop high-value, high-function medical devices, inclu
ding surgical sutures with improved flexibility and superior knot integrity, and meshes for he
rnia recovery.

| Advanced Polymeric Materials R & D Center |

| Research continues in the synthesis and processing of engineering plastics such as PC
(polycarbonate), PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) and PET (polyethyleneterepthalate).
The R&D Center has developed high-flow PC, to make materials smaller and lighter; branc
hed PC, which has improved dimensional stability in the molten state; and high-end
engineering plastics with enhanced impact-resistant, heat-resistant, flame-retardant and UV-re
sistant attributes. Going forward, the R&D Center plans to concentrate efforts to develop
high-value, high-tech materials for information telecommunications and automobile
applications, building upon years of experience with synthesis and processing techniques. |

| With the help of high-polymer manufacturing technology and commercialization expertise,
the R & D Center has developed advanced industrial materials featuring a wide variety of
optimized functions. The R & D Center has developed and released Trigrid¢ça type of con
struction material used for a variety of purposes including segmental retaining walls, base
reinforcement of soft soil, and slope reinforcement. The R&D Center will continue to modify
Trigrid¢çto develop new varieties and applications, and will persevere at developing geo
composites with multiple functions. |
